Bashkiria athletes will compete at the first European Games in Baku

Athletes from Bashkiria will compete at the first European Games in Baku. The competition, which will involve more than 6,000 athletes from all over Europe, will be held from June 12 to 28. According to the press service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports RB, the athletes will compete for 253 sets of medals in 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic ones. The competitions in archery, athletics, boxing, wrestling, beach volleyball, cycling, shooting, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and triathlon will be a part of the selection for the Summer Olympics to be held in Rio de Janeiro.
360 athletes from 50 regions of the Russian Federation were qualified for the European Games. The Bashkir athletes will also participate in them as part of the Russian national team: in fencing (foil) Timur Safin, Timur Arslanov, Adelina Zagidullina and Anastasia Ivanova; in swimming — Polina Yegorova; in rowing and canoeing — Ilya Pervukhin (canoe); in judo (sports of visually impaired) — Alexander Parasyuk.
The first European Games will be broadcast on the channel "Russia 2", "Sport 1", "Sport" and "Fight Club." Online broadcast will be also conducted on major sports Internet resources Vesti.ru and Sportbox.ru.
