Ufa scientists’ project won the 3rd National Award "Crystal Compass"


UFA, 27 May 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Gulfiya Akulova/. Ufa scientists’ project won the 3rd National Award "Crystal Compass" established by the Russian Geographical Society. The award ceremony was held in the resort of Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi. This year 30 projects became finalists.

The collective scientific work of 28 scientists from various specialties of the Ufa Institute of Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences dedicated to survey of complex of natural monuments located in the territory of Bashkortostan — Tratau and Yuraktau shihans. The monograph won the award in the category "Public Recognition" having become the leader of Internet voting. More than 30 thousand people gave votes for it.

The crystal statuette "Crystal Compass" was awarded to the project manager, director of Institute of Biology, Ufa Science Centre RAS Alexander Melentyev and  the Chairman of the Russian Geographical Society Department in Bashkortostan Kamil Ziganshin.

The award in the field of national geography, ecology, conservation and promotion of natural, historical and cultural heritage of Russia "Crystal Compass" was established by Krasnodar regional department of the Russian Geographic Society in collaboration with the "Gazprom Kuban" corporate association. 10 works from various regions of the country were awarded figurines made of crystal and silver this year.
