UFA, 10 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Arina Rakhimkulova/. International Day of Resistance Movement is celebrated annually on April 10 and is dedicated to all those who resisted the Nazis during the Second World War in the territories occupied by the troops of the Third Reich.
The resistance movement was organized with participation of the inhabitants of occupied territories opposing German forces, and had diverse forms of struggle against the invaders. The resistance movement acquired the greatest scope in the Soviet Union, Italy, Poland, France, Yugoslavia and Bulgaria.
In some countries (Yugoslavia, Poland, Czechoslovakia, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Albania, Vietnam, the Philippines) resistance movement grew into a war of national liberation against the fascist invaders. In Yugoslavia and Albania, national liberation war against the invaders merged with the civil war against internal reaction. In the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, the leading forms of movement were the strike movement and the anti-fascist demonstration. In Germany, the main method was the conspiratorial activities of clandestine groups to engage the population in the struggle against fascism, distribution of campaign materials, assistance to foreign workers and prisoners of war deported to Germany.
In each country, the resistance movement was deeply national in nature, but at the same time it was an international movement, as it had the common goal — the defeat of fascism, liberation of occupied territories from invaders. Activities of the movement participants in different countries significantly contributed to the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition and approached the end of the war.
