UFA, 7 April 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Catherine Sokolova/. A bill, which limits the term of office of regional governors, is introduced to the State Duma, according to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta". The corresponding amendment to the Federal Law "On general principles of organization of legislative (representative) and executive bodies of subjects of the Russian Federation" is developed by representatives of all four Duma factions.
According to the document, the governors may not hold office for more than two consecutive terms. The amendment ensures turnover and renewal of authorities.
It is planned to begin reset of office terms in 2012, when the law on the governors’ elections came into force. In addition, an executive who worked for two terms will be able to be elected in another region.
