UFA, 5 March 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Iliya Spiridonov/. On March 4, the Head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov and the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev met in Bishkek. The parties noted the positive dynamics of bilateral relations in various fields, increased intercultural and business activity and discussed plans for the joint projects.
Almazbek Atambayev stressed the importance of establishing direct contacts with the Russian regions, taking into account cultural and historical ties between the peoples. Rustem Khamitov in turn, noted the availability of interesting joint plans in various sectors, including agriculture.
Following the meeting, both parties expressed the unanimous opinion that the accession of Kyrgyzstan to the Eurasian Economic Union will open up entirely new prospects for bilateral relations on a wide range of issues, will create serious prerequisites for further development and expansion of the Kyrgyz-Bashkir relations.
Recall that at the end of 2014 the trade turnover between Bashkortostan and Kyrgyzstan amounted to 132.2 million dollars, including export — $ 132 million, imports — $ 0.2 million. The Kyrgyz Republic occupies the 20th position in total foreign trade turnover of Bashkortostan with a relative share of 0.9 percent. Petroleum products are supplied from Bashkortostan to Kyrgyzstan (92.5 percent of total exports), as well as wood products, products of chemical, metallurgical and food industries; Kyrgyzstan exports electric bulbs to Bashkortostan.
