Population grew by 1,919 people in Bashkiria in 2014

At the beginning of 2015 the number of inhabitants of the republic amounted to 4,071,617 people, natural migration gains offset the decline. As a result, according to Bashkortostan Statistics Agency, in 2014 the population increased by 1,919 persons, or 0.05 percent.
Natural increase constituted 6949 people: 60517 babies were born (by 2.1 percent more than in 2013), 53 568 people died (0.4 percent increase). Thus, the number of births exceeded the number of deaths by 13 percent (the average across the Russian Federation — by 1.8 percent).
Migration decline at the end of 2014 amounted to 4441 people: 58.2 thousand people left the republic, 53.7 thousand chose Bashkortostan as place of their residence.
Among the subjects of the Volga Federal District, population growth is observed in Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Udmurtia, Perm Territory and Samara Region. In general, the number of inhabitants of Volga Federal District decreased by 21,000 people, or by 0.1 percent, and amounted to 29 million 717.8 thousand.
