UFA, 29 January 2015. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. In Ufa, the Mikhail Nesterov’s Bashkir Art Museum hosts a solo exhibition of the artist Jan Kryzhevsky — the first after his returning from the USA in December 2014, where he spent more than 20 years.
According to the chief curator of the museum Valentina Sorokina, the retrospective exhibition «USA — UFA» collected 24 works: two new, unfinished pieces, four works from the Nesterov’s funds and 13 from Vologda art gallery, where the artist lived for a long time. Several paintings represent the New York period.
“Returning of Ian Kryzhevsky became one of the most significant events of the year of culture in Bashkortostan”, the Minister of Culture RB Amina Shafikova reminded. “A lot of work was done to provide assistance to the artist. And the Head of the Republic Rustem Khamitov supervised this work. Everything was done to help our compatriot, who was in a difficult situation, come back.
“I think that the exhibition will find its audience. The older generation will remember the seventies and eighties. The younger generation may be for the first time will see the brightest representative of the Soviet art Ian Yulianovich”, the head of the art department of the Ufa College of Arts Sergey Ignatenko said.
“We have tried to collect a full retrospective: the American, Vologda, and Ufa periods are represented here”, the director of Mikhail Nesterov’s Bashkir Art Museum Faizrakhman Ismagilov said.
