A passenger information system has started operating in a pilot mode as part of the joint project of "Bashautotrans" and "Transport Navigation Centre" on GLONASS technology introduction in the republic. With its help, citizens will be able to navigate in the scheme of buses routes and find out the exact time of transport arrival at bus stops.
According to the CEO of "Vehicle Navigation Centre" Andrey Bykovsky, the introduction of the GLONASS system for passenger services in the region achieved some success.
All "Bashautotrans" buses are equipped with GLONASS system whether on urban, suburban or interurban routes. It is intended for supervisory control and coordination of transport schedules.
Moreover, the navigation system assists in the event of transport breakage or traffic accidents.
Cooperation of "Bashautotrans" and "Vehicle Navigation Centre" is based on the correct approach to the organization of work and application of promising technology.
The Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) determines the three-dimensional coordinates worldwide. It allows to link transport streams of the modern metropolis into a single information space — public transport, freight transportation and emergency response services. Bashkortostan among 32 regions of the country uses GLONASS in a pilot mode.
