On December 24, in Moscow the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov attended a meeting of the Supervisory Board to support children and youth hockey in the regions of the Volga Federal District (PFD).
Co-Chairmen of the Supervisory Board — the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Russian Federation to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich and the President of the Russian Hockey Federation Vladislav Tretiak noted the importance of children's and youth hockey for promotion of healthy lifestyle among youth. The participants discussed the main directions of development of this movement in the PFD and measures to support it at the district and regional levels, as well as plans for the development of the "Golden Puck" tournament.
In Bashkortostan more than 20 thousand people are engaged in hockey on a regular basis. 43 hockey departments of sports schools have more than four thousand students. 362 operating hockey pitches are available in 63 municipalities, 13 of them are indoor ice arenas and rinks.
The republican competitions of young hockey players of the "Golden Puck" club are held annually in three stages: in secondary schools, youth clubs and community centres; district and city stages of the competition; the republican tournament. In the 2013/2014 season 178 teams participated (4277 participants) in the first two stages, 38 teams (648 participants) — in the third stage. According to the results of republican competitions five teams participated in the zonal and final All-Russian young hockey players competition of the "Golden Puck" club.
