Bashkortostan is of real interest to US theologians
UFA, 17 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Catherine Sokolova/.
The Monitoring Centre for Interethnic and Interfaith Relations of Bashkir Academy of Public Service and Administration under the President RB was visited by the famous theologian, Professor at University of Nevada (USA) Paul Werth. He delivered the report "The role of religion in the age of nationalism: orthodoxy and foreign religions in the post-reform Russia".
Professor outlined his own theory of religious communities and the state relationship in Russia. According to him, unlike the United States, religious affiliation of Russians largely coincides with their ethnic background. In general, Paul Werth admitted that the Russian religious freedom existed objectively, although it had some specific features that must be studied. Therefore, it is Bashkortostan and the work of Monitoring Centre for Interethnic and Interfaith Relations that are of real interest for US theologians.
According to Professor of Bashkir Academy of Public Service, Doctor of Political Sciences Rustem Latypov, the Monitoring Centre for Interethnic and Interfaith Relations created a year ago, is actively studying foreign experience attracting foreign scientists to participate in methodological seminars on ethnic and religious issues. In addition, a rapid response team is established at the Centre for the organization of political studies at the "risk points". In particular, they held field focus group research in the territory of the Beloretsk region.
