Rustem Khamitov demanded from municipalities paying special attention to the demography problems
UFA, 10 December 2014. /Bashinform News Agency, Leila Aralbaeva/.
On December 9, at a meeting with the chairmen of the councils of municipal districts, urban districts and towns of the republic the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov touched upon one of the most difficult and pressing issues — demography. He noted that in the last three or four years, the birth rate exceeded the death rate in the region and called the situation in rural areas and municipalities simply catastrophic. Comparing the current levels of population growth (7.6 thousand) per year, with 60-s of the last century, when the natural population growth was "plus 40 thousand" the President promised to strictly hold accountable those who did not pay particular attention to the problem.
Rustem Khamitov said that the average life expectancy in Bashkortostan should grow from 69.8 years (the current figure) to 74 years. Despite the fact that huge funding is spent on health care in the republic, in 2014 it was about 50 billion rubles, one third of the consolidated budget – that was not enough. The conditions for doctors should be created locally: housing, normal working conditions. The head of the region charged the attendees to hold sessions in their areas to discuss demographic issues, to clarify the situation with migration, birth rate and, most importantly, with mortality.
The detailed transcript of the Rustem Khamitov’s speech is available on the official website of the President RB.
