Rustem Khamitov met with Professor Renat Akchurin

On December 8, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with the famous Russian cardiac surgeon, MD, Professor Renat Akchurin, who arrived in Ufa to participate in research and practice conference "Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery – One View of a Problem". The parties discussed prospects of development of the republican cardiology service within the announced by the Russian President Vladimir Putin the National Year of Fighting Cardiovascular Diseases, as well as ways to increase the life expectancy and decrease mortality in Bashkortostan.
The head of the region noted that over the past few years material and technical facilities of Bashkortostan cardiology service were significantly enhanced, new technologies were introduced, including in the field of transplantation. Cardiovascular disease prevention activity was carried out. However, the average life expectancy is 69.8 years in the republic. Much work should be done to accomplish the task set by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly — to increase this figure to 74 years.
Renat Akchurin said that at the conference, in which he took part, the treatment methods of "high risk" patients with discussed.
“These are cases when usual, classic procedures are ineffective. For this purpose there is a hybrid intervention, when tasks of big operation are solved through different approaches. That is we find the ways of rational spending of public funds to achieve a greater effect with less trauma to the patient. This is the goal of modern cardiac surgery”, Renat Akchurin said.
The famous cardiac surgeon marked that experts of the centre where he worked would be always ready to share experience with their colleagues from Bashkortostan.
