Bashkortostan Senator headed a co-operation group between the parliaments of Russia and Indonesia

Liliya Gumerova, the Senator from Bashkortostan, the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture headed a group on cooperation between the parliaments of Russia and Indonesia. The decision to establish such group was made during the official visit of the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko to the Republic of Indonesia.
During the negotiations the parties discussed ways to deepen and expand comprehensive and multifaceted Russian-Indonesian cooperation. At a meeting with the Chairman of the Council of Representatives of Indonesia Regions Irman Gusman the speaker of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament Valentina Matviyenko urged the parliaments of our two countries to work more actively in development of legal framework, exchange of legislative experience, visits of relevant delegations. The co-operation group should intensify this activity between the two parliaments.
According to Valentina Matviyenko, Bashkortostan today is one of the largest and most promising emerging subjects of Russia, and has experience of economic cooperation with Indonesia. In 2013 the republican foreign trade turnover with Indonesia was 78.9 million dollars, in the first half of 2014 — 470 thousand dollars. There is close cooperation between Bashkortostan and Indonesia in oil and gas industry.
Indonesian colleague of Valentina Matviyenko supported the idea of forming the co-operation group between the parliaments, the Senator assistant Marcel Vakhitov said.
