The daughter of a famous artist, a native of Ufa Jan Kryzhevsky, addressed to the President of Bashkortostan with a request to assist in his return to his homeland. He currently resides in the United States and is in distress, without documents and livelihoods.
“It has become known about a difficult situation of our countryman Jan Kryzhevsky from his daughter’s letter to the President of Bashkortostan. The head of the republic immediately gave instructions to provide all possible assistance to the famous Soviet artist. In particular, Rustem Khamitov signed a letter addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov to instruct the New York consulate of Russia to assist in issuing necessary documents for repatriation of Jan Kryzhevsky in Russia — to his family in Ufa. External Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration provides organizational support to Jan Kryzhevsky and his family. Bashkortostan doesn’t leave in trouble its compatriots. This has been proven many times, when the inhabitants of the republic found themselves in various difficult situations abroad. This is a compelling stand of the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov”, the press secretary of the head of the region Artem Valiev said.
Jan Yulianovich Kryzhevsky was born in Ufa in 1948. In 1969 he graduated from Ufa Art College, in 1970 he entered Riga Academy of Arts. Kryzhevsky began his creative activities in 1973. Since 1975, he was in the Union of Artists of the USSR, worked in Ufa, Vologda, Yaroslavl, St. Petersburg. Works by Jan Kryzhevsky were exhibited in Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, France, Italy, were auctioned at "Christie" (1990) and "Sotheby's" (1992). In 1991 he moved to the USA, where in the first years of residence his professional career developed successfully. However it is now known that the artist is in a difficult situation. According to his daughter Maria, now her father is seriously ill and wants to return to their home in Ufa. The artist temporary resides in the Boguslavsky family in New York.
