United Nations Day is marked on October 24

Today is the United Nations Day. In 1947, the UN General Assembly by its resolution declared October 24 as United Nations Day. Since then this date is celebrated worldwide as the UN Day. Currently the structure of the United Nations includes 193 states.
Every year the UN is increasingly expanding its activities. So, UN Peacebuilding Commission is created and actively works, which is coordinating the assistance to states emerging from conflicts. A few years ago the Human Rights Council was established and, most recently as part of the United Nations another new structure dedicated to women's rights was created.
The Republic of Bashkortostan is one of the most active subjects of Russia working on UN programs and its specialized units — UNESCO, UNIDO and UNDP. This autumn in cooperation with UNESCO a delegation of Bashkortostan Committee for UNESCO Affairs took part in the international educational project "Dialogue and Cooperation". It took place in the context of implementation of the Communiqué — Agreement on Cooperation between Bashkortostan and UNESCO, which was signed by the President RB Rustem Khamitov and UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova at the Paris headquarters of the organization on October 1, 2013. The republic implemented a lot of socially significant projects in the field of education, science, culture and sport related to UNESCO.
UNIDO integrated program for Bashkortostan aims at supporting industry, investment promotion and environmental monitoring. A lot of major industrial projects were carried out in the republic with the assistance of UNIDO experts.
