Subsistence minimum is increased by 6.6 percent in Russia

The minimum subsistence level per capita is set at 8,192 rubles in Russia as a whole for the II quarter of 2014, for able-bodied population – at 8834 rubles, for pensioners — 6717 rubles, for children – 7920 rubles. The corresponding decree was adopted by the Russian Government.
The subsistence minimum is determined on the basis of the consumer basket and Rosstat data on consumer prices for food, non-food goods and services.
The subsistence minimum for the II quarter of 2014 per capita was increased in comparison with the I quarter 2014 by 6.6 percent, for the able-bodied population — by 6.7, for pensioners — by 6.5, for children – by 6.3 percent.
The growth of the subsistence minimum in the II quarter of 2014 compared with I quarter 2014 was due to higher food costs as part of the subsistence minimum per capita by 6.2 percent.
