Ufa is in the top 10 Russian cities in industrial capacity and quality of life. These data were given by Anton Finogenov, the CEO of Institute of Regional Planning "Urbanika", at the opening of the «UrbanBairam» urban forum, which takes place in Ufa.
In the industrial ranking Ufa takes the seventh place after St. Petersburg, Moscow, Surgut, Nizhnevartovsk, Omsk and Perm. The data collected by the Institute for the last three years were used to evaluate the industrial potential.
“The city of the XXI century may be quite industrial”, Anton Finogenov said. “For example, in Ufa, there are several industries that can turn into modern clusters. These include petrochemicals and aviation industry.”
The capital of Bashkortostan takes the eighth position in terms of quality and cost of living. Here Ufa is behind Krasnodar, Surgut, Yekaterinburg, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Murmansk, Belgorod and Voronezh.
“Globally competitive economic clusters cannot be created without high quality of life”, Anton Finogenov marked. “And any economic strategy becomes ineffective without a coherent urban policy.”
