Import substitution would require a serious mind renovation - Rustem Khamitov
Rustem Khamitov in his interview to "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" named the spheres of industry where the import substitution would be quite hard. These included mechanical engineering. According to the head of the republic, large companies should examine more closely the whole chain of their suppliers.
“It is obvious that new and interesting developments of our scientists are available in mechanical engineering. But we need modern technology for their implementation”, Rustem Khamitov said. “Meanwhile, in recent years, the funds allocated for science were extremely small; in many enterprises of the country R & D departments just disappeared. And it happened what should have happened: many industrial centres "stuck" to import and do not want to “come off””.
The head of the region is sure that “serious mind renovation” will remedy the situation.
“Import substitution should be a major trend. In any case in the future we should not enter into such a dependence on imports as our country found itself during the last 15-20 years. This is a dangerous thing from all points of view,” Rustem Khamitov said.
