On August 6, a meeting of the head of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov, Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko and the President of the International Canoe Federation, the Head of the International World Games Association Jose Perurena Lopez took place at the opening of the Canoeing World Cup in the Olympic training centre "Krylatskoe" (Moscow), the press service of the head of the republic informs.

During the meeting they discussed the prospects of Ufa’s nomination as a candidate city to host the 11th World Games 2021. Vitaly Mutko marked that Russia set up a non-Olympic sports committee and its future task would be to support these sports at the state level. The Minister of Sports named Bashkortostan one of the flagships of sport development in Russia, as evidenced by the statistics: in 2013, the republic was the first region in the country in different sectors of sports development, including mass sports.

Rustem Khamitov noted that the Republic of Bashkortostan would be very interested in hosting the 11th World Games — more than 80 percent of the region's residents were in favour of holding the Games in Ufa.

Jose Perurena, in his turn, said that the competition between cities to host the 11th World Games started. In addition to Ufa the capital of Peru Lima and American Birmingham (Alabama) also submitted their bids.

"The winner will be ultimately determined by the commission that will pay the most attention to the readiness of the Games sports facilities", Jose Perurena said.

"In general, I estimate Ufa’s chances to become the capital of World Games as high”, Mutko said, talking to reporters. “Bashkortostan is a very sports oriented region. Availability of sports infrastructure, popularity of sport, experience in competitions holding — all this is at a high level. We all support the bid of Ufa and we would like to see this decision made".
