Liberal Democratic Party proposes to move the single voting day to March
MPs from the Liberal Democratic Party propose to move the single voting day from September to March. According to ITAR-TASS, today, on August 6, a corresponding draft bill will be submitted to the State Duma. Its authors are members of the LDPR faction headed by Igor Lebedev, Yaroslav Nilov and Mikhail Degtyarev.
Recall that in January 2014, the State Duma rejected a bill introduced to postpone the single voting day to November. The single voting day is still scheduled for the second Sunday of September. Then the initiative to postpone the voting day was made by deputies from "Just Russia" party. In their view, the transfer of the elections to November would allow conducting a full-fledged election campaign designed to attract maximum voters, and not affecting the academic activity in educational institutions.
