author: Leila Aralbaeva

Ufa Centre of Contemporary Art "Oblaka" is organizing a new large-scale project — "Pop Art Forum", which will run from 24 October 2014 to 11 January 2015.

Ufa townspeople will be able to see works by Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein and Jasper Johns, Robert Indiana and James Rosenquist.

"Pop art — art or epatage? The truth of life or insanity?"- the organizers of the art forum wonder. The movement appeared in Europe in the 50-ies of the last century. The pop art appealed to the images that flooded the lives of people in the middle of the twentieth century: comics, hamburgers, celebrities, refrigerators, "Coca-Cola", cars.

About 80 works from the most popular series "Marilyn" and cans of soup "Campbell" by Andy Warhol to the brilliant but controversial contemporary works of the pop art followers — Richard Ryan and the icon of street art Banksy will be presented to the public.

Ufa Centre of Contemporary Art "Oblaka" is located at 3, Bakalinskaya Street.
