Ufa residents have collected more than 25,000 books during BookCrossing

As part of the city event "People’s BookCrossing" Ufa townspeople collected over 25,000 books. Recall, that a charity event on collecting books and magazines was announced by the newspapers "Vechernyaya Ufa" and "Ufimskaya Nedelya" in January this year. Ufa townspeople brought books unnecessary to them to the central city library and its 33 branches.

Books and magazines collected during the campaign were sorted by genre, age preferences, and then transferred to public and social institutions of the Bashkir capital as charity. Organizers delivered 6.5 thousand books to city hospitals, childcare centres, health clinics, health camps. Detective fiction books were sent to Ufa home for the elderly and disabled. Integrated social service centre of Demsky residential district, Republican Cardiology Clinic, Ufa Hospital No. 5 also received books. About four thousand books with literary pieces included in school courses and textbooks were sent to Crimea, about eight thousand books replenished funds of city libraries. Rare editions became exhibits of museums; some citizens shared their unique book collections.

During four months of the campaign a huge amount of work was done, librarians and readers of Ufa gave books a "second life".
