In January-June, inflation was 4.8 percent in Bashkortostan, as in Russia as a whole. In the Volga Federal District, this figure ranges from 3.8 percent in the Udmurt Republic to 5.6 percent in the Ulyanovsk region, Bashkortostan Statistics Agency reports.
In the current year inflation situation in the consumer market of Bashkortostan is characterized by higher food prices than the last year (8.3 percent against 6.1 percent in January-June 2013) and services (4.3 against 2.7). Non-food prices show the same rates as the last year: an increase of 1.7 percent for six months.
In most subjects of the Volga Federal District the prices for potatoes and vegetables significantly increased. Pork, poultry, milk and milk products, butter, rice, millet, sugar, frozen fish and vodka became noticeably more expensive. However, prices for chicken eggs and sunflower oil decreased.
