In the Presidential Administration of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov hosted a reception of delegation of the South Korea Embassy headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea in the Russian Federation, Mr. Wi Sung Lac. The parties discussed plans for further cooperation.
Rustem Khamitov noted that the Republic of Korea was a priority partner of Bashkortostan. He also briefed the guests on our republic, its economic development. During the talks interaction issues between Bashkiria and Korea businessmen were touched upon.
“The turnover is very small — about 25 million dollars. It is mainly developed due to supply of petroleum products from Bashkortostan to Korea. Investments from Korea and Bashkortostan are almost absent. Investment of Korean companies last year totaled about 5 million dollars. Only 11 enterprises created with participation of Korean capital operate here. The year before we were in Seoul where studied issues related to e-learning but we do not have significant progress in these areas, yet. Of course, we will try to move in this direction involving Korean experts”, Khamitov said.
“We are ready to provide favourable working conditions for investors from Korea. Our legislation today allows us providing such benefits", he also marked. "In the near future we need to set the stage for such interaction. I hope that your visit, Mr. Ambassador, will play a great role in this work. I promise to render constant support and control of the situation to make our relations develop more rapidly,” the head of the republic said.
Mr. Wi Sung Lac thanked Rustem Khamitov for his warm words and hospitality.
He also noted that Bashkortostan being an industrial centre of the South Urals of Russia was the important partner for Korea.
“Today's meeting met our expectations. We put high hopes on success of business consultations which are carried out by representatives of the parties in Ufa. We have already fruitful outcome of work between our businessmen. Hopefully there will be real results and interaction between the Republic of Korea and Bashkortostan soon. Tonight we plan a cultural event. We hope that our cooperation will not be limited to the economic sector, but it will develop in the sphere of culture and education,” Mr. Wi Sung- Lac said.
