Presidential elections will be held ahead of schedule in Bashkiria

Presidential elections will be held ahead of schedule in the Republic of Bashkortostan – on September 14, 2014. The decision was made at a meeting of the Russian President with Rustem Khamitov today. Powers of Bashkortostan President expire in 2015.

During the meeting, the head of the republic noted that "people’s support can be obtained at elections asking people what they think of our work. And in this regard, Vladimir Vladimirovich, support me in the following please: I request for resignation from the office ahead of term in order to participate in the autumn elections for the post of the Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan".

The President RF accepted request of Rustem Khamitov to step down ahead of term from office as Head of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

According to the law of the republic, now Rustem Khamitov can participate in the elections of the head of Bashkortostan. The President of the Republic during a press conference on April 28 announced his intention to participate in future elections of the head region. Such decision he took on the basis of three components, which, in his opinion, each candidate should have: the public support, the support of the Russian President and the desire of the candidate to work for the benefit of people.
