UMPO starts production of new components for civil aircraft MS -21

JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" (UMPO) starts production of advanced engine components (PD-14) for civil aircraft MS -21. As the press service of the association informs, UMPO will independently produce bladed intergrated disk (BLISK) of high-pressure compressor rotor (HPC) of the fifth stage. UMPO assembles HPC rotor since 2010, but till now BLISKs were supplied by PD-14 developer — "Aviadvigatel".

For BLISK manufacturing UMPO purchased special equipment. Funds of the target bond loan of United Industrial Corporation "Oboronprom" were raised for these goals: in 2013 UMPO received a tranche of 920 million rubles.

In the long term the UMPO’s share in the project of PD-14 serial production will make 47 percent, the association reports. Currently, except BLISKs, UMPO makes for PD-14 wide chord fan blades, high-pressure compressor rotor (HPC), components and back support of low-pressure turbine and other parts.

JSC "Ufa Engine Industrial Association" is the Russian largest manufacturer of aircraft engines. It is engaged in development, manufacture, service and repair of turbojet engines and pumping units, production and repairs of helicopter parts. It is included in the United Engine Corporation — a wholly owned subsidiary of UIC "Oboronprom" on engine assets management.
