JSOC Bashneft has reduced the efficiency of associated petroleum gas utilization (APG) from 75.2 to 72.7 percent in 2013, it follows from the reports of the Russian Ministry of Energy. This is the smallest after Rosneft ( 68.7 percent ) index among major oil and gas companies.

Surgutneftegas (99.3 percent), "Tatneft" (93.6) , "Gazprom" (93.1) and "Novatek" (93.1 ) have the highest APG efficiency rates.

The problem of rational use of oil by-products has become particularly relevant with the RF Government Resolution "On measures to stimulate the reduction of air pollution with products of associated gas”, which comes into effect since January 1, 2012. The document requires oil companies to increase the beneficial use of APG in 2015 to 95 percent.
