On March 21, at the House of Republic the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov met with the First Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Sergey Velmyaikin, who participated in the seminar "Special assessment of working conditions as a tool to improve working conditions and safety", which takes place in Ufa.

“You raised an important topic for consideration. It is very pressing issue for the republic. For our part we work in this direction and achieve some results,” the head of the republic said during the conversation. “In 2013, in terms of injuries and deaths the situation was better than in 2012. We would like to see it as a long-term trend in this part. I make strict demands to this sphere. Apparently, our efforts yield certain results. Given the fact that there are new methods of workplaces certification, it will help us. Let us work together. If necessary, we are ready to be "pilots" — more advanced than other regions. We have over 100,000 people working in hazardous conditions: chemical, petrochemical industry, oil refining and other hazardous productions. Thus it is very important for us”, the President RB said.

“The Republic of Bashkortostan is a front runner. I must say that this all-Russian trend in fatal accidents decrease is observed in the republic too. You rightly say that human life, health – is the most important and precious thing we have. For our part we are making every effort to minimize hazards here. Let me disagree with the thesis that we have something to teach Bashkortostan,” Sergey Velmyaikin said.

Details of the meeting are available on the official website of the President of the Republic.
