For the first time in Ufa a British singer, songwriter, four-time winner of the "Best Jazz Vocalist" title — Cleveland Watkiss will give a performance at the XVIII International Jazz Festival "The Pink Panther". The singer refers to the constellation of major jazz stars of the middle generation. The jazzman has numerous albums and performances with big bands, jazz trios, choirs and orchestras. He has concerts with such mega-stars of the music industry as Art Blakey, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker, Robbie Williams and Bjork.
Ufa fans of the improvisation genre will be able to hear masterpieces of all periods and styles of jazz performed by the vocalist — from New Orleans blues of Louis Armstrong and Chicago swing of Ella Fitzgerald to New York bebop of Dizzy Gillespie and soul of Stevie Wonder. Cleveland Watkiss will be accompanied by Oleg Gasimov’s jazz quartet on the stage of Bashkir State Philharmonic Society.
The concert will take place at Bashkir State Philharmonic Society on March 30. The beginning is at 18 o’clock.
