By late April, a PET Scan Centre will start working in Ufa, where residents of the republic will be screened on the latest tomographic devices for free. Health Minister RB George Shebaev told about this and other innovations at a meeting with journalists.
Significant changes have recently occurred in health care. For a year overall mortality slightly decreased, birth rate increased.
“Infant mortality indicators were 7.6 per thousand live births in 2013. This figure is below one tenth of the defined in the "road map" plan and below average indicators,” George Shebaev said.
Along with the existing new maternity hospital of the European level at Kuvatov’s Republican Hospital, this year a Perinatal Centre will be opened in the city of Octyabrsky. Within a month, a hospital will be opened in Mesyagutovo village on the north- east of the republic.
This year the Ministry of Health RB intends to add to the network of vascular regional centres of the republic one more centre in the city of Octyabrsky. Since last year, such centre works in Sterlitamak, in Ufa hospitals No. 21, 22 and at the Republican Cardiological Centre.
With regard to the diagnosis of cancer, by the end of April a Centre of positron emission tomography (PET) will start operating in Ufa. During a year according to the plans three thousand people will be examined there.
The Health Minister pointed out that next year work on development of transplantation would be continued. In 2013, successful liver transplant surgery at Kuvatov’s Republican Hospital was made and two heart transplants in the cardiac surgery clinic were carried out.
The Minister told about the plans to build a centre in Ufa on cell technologies at BSMU Clinic where it is supposed to perform operations on bone marrow transplantation.
