On February 26, 2014 the Paralympic Torch Relay "Sochi- 2014" will start. It will be held in all eight federal districts of the Russian Federation and will include 45 cities.
On the fifth day of the Torch Relay — March 3 the Torch will be carried along the streets of the Bashkir capital. In Ufa, about 50 torchbearers will participate in this event.
The Torch will be carried by the famous inhabitants of the capital, including the Paralympic Games Champion 2012 in London Mikhail Zimin, the Honored coach of Russia in Athletics Peter Builov, the Champion of Deaflympics in swimming Vadim Borovik.
The Torch Relay promises to be the most innovative and unusual in the history of the Paralympic Games. Every day the Paralympic flame will be lit simultaneously in several cities in one of the federal districts. Each lighting ceremony will be unique — the flame will be lit from the sun, from a hammer and an anvil, from a Russian stove and even from a spark of the volcano.
“A flame lighting ceremony in Ufa will also be original. It will be accompanied with dances,” the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports RB Pavel Muslimov said at a press conference.
The flame lighting will happen during the presentation of the legend of the Bashkir tribes. The mission is entrusted to multiple medalist of Russian Championships, winner of the European Judo Championships, the chairman of the All Russia Association of the Blind Yury Akshentsov.
The city stage of the relay will culminate in the square named after Salavat Yulaev. At 14 o’clock a festive show will start there.
The length of the relay will be about 5 km, and it will be held along the city historic sites.
Starting at midday torchbearers will carry the flame along Pushkin, Lenin, Communisticheskaya, Tsurupy, October Revolution, Soviet, Tukaev, Karl Marx, Zaki Validi Streets.
