Yesterday in Sochi the first biathlon women race completed at the Winter Olympics 2014. It was the 7.5 km sprint.
Olga Vilukhina, the native of Bashkir city Mezhgoyre now competing for Novosibirsk, brought the second medal to the Russian team at these Games. Vilukhina ran the distance without penalties, but yielded only 19.9 seconds to the champion Anastasia Kuzmina competing for Slovakia.
The bronze medal went to the Ukrainian Vita Semerenko (21.7, no penalties).
Other Russians had the following positions: Yana Romanova – 19th, Olga Zaitseva — 28th, Ekatherina Shumilova — 60th.
