Driver is charged with the twin sisters hit in Ufa
The Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs RB completed a criminal investigation against the driver who committed a fatal hit of two girls. The 47-year-old resident of Ufa is charged under two articles: "Violation of traffic rules under the influence of alcohol resulting in death of two or more persons" and "Failure to render assistance to persons in mortal danger".
According to investigators, on November 30, in Selskaya Bogorodskaya Street the drunk driver of VAZ-21074 lost control of his car and knocked down pedestrians — ten-year-old twin sisters. The third form pupils with their 53-year-old grandfather were crossing the road at an unauthorised place. As a result of hitting the girls died at the scene. The man was thrown to the opposite lane, where he was ran over by "Renault Logan" car. The victim was hospitalized. The driver of VAZ-21074 fled the scene and was arrested a day later.
During the investigation the driver admitted his guilt. He faces five to nine years in prison. The criminal case is directed to the Prosecutor’s Office for approval of the indictment, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs RB informs.
