The Central Election Commission of Bashkortostan has applied to the CEC of Russia for purchasing of 2080 transparent ballot boxes. As the department reports, in Bashkortostan today there are 6494 transparent ballot boxes of permanent-type. But the need according to standards is 8574 items.
Recall that the President of Russia signed a law that during the elections of various levels ballot boxes made of transparent (semitransparent) material should be used. Using transparent boxes will increase the efficiency of public control over elections’ compliance with the law.
The Russian Central Election Commission approved the regulations of technological equipment for the district elections commissions and referendums in the Russian Federation. The Central Election Commission is empowered to order transparent boxes. They will be purchased at the expense of the federal budget by 31 December 2014. It is planned to purchase about 140,000 stationary and about 150 thousand portable ballot boxes.
