Six thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War live in Bashkortostan
Over the past five years the number of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, hostilities and military service decreased by more than eight thousand people. As of January 1, 2014 six thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War, 35 thousand hostilities veterans, eight thousand veterans of military service and 179 members of the Leningrad blockade live in Bashkortostan. This was reported by the chairman of the War Veterans Committee RB Mansur Akhunov at the VII Conference of public organization of veterans of war, hostilities and military service of Bashkortostan.
The republic is also home to more than 12,400 family members of War participants and those who died in the Great Patriotic War, 3476 participants of accidents elimination, 117 former prisoners of concentration camps, and 873 widows and parents of soldiers killed in the line of duty .
The War Veterans Committee RB develops and implements programs aimed at protecting the interests of veterans and retired military men, conducts military-patriotic education of young generation.
