Ufa will represent Russia in the bid campaign to host the World Games in 2021
On January 14 in Moscow it was decided to nominate Ufa as a candidate city to host the World Games XI in 2021 at the meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission for the organization and conducting international sports competitions in the territory of Russia. The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.
Speaking at the meeting of the Commission, the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov noted that Bashkortostan was ready to host the World Games in 2021, the press service of the head of the republic informs.
"Bashkortostan is deservedly considered as one of the most sports promoting regions of Russia, with extensive experience in major international competitions", Rustem Khamitov said.
The Russia's bid will be submitted to the Organizing Committee of the International Association of the Games until the end of May 2014. A final decision on the venue of the Games will be made in 2015.
Bashkortostan started to prepare for participation in the bidding campaign to host the World Games in 2011.
In June 2012, during their visit to Ufa the President of the International World Games Association Ronald Froehlich and Secretary General Joachim Gossow took a favourable view of the readiness of the republic to the organization and conducting of international sports events.
The competitions will be held for 11 days in July-August 2021. It is expected the participation of 3600 athletes from more than 100 countries, 200 officials, 400 media representatives.
