Nearly 1.8 million tons of sugar beet are collected in Bashkortostan

As of November 6, in Bashkiria 1,781,000 tons of sugar beets are collected at an average yield of 351 kg per hectare. About 962 thousand tons were sent for processing. Sugar factories of the republic today processed nearly 540,000 tons of sweet root vegetables.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture RB, the sugar beet has been harvested on the area of over 50.7 thousand hectares in the republic, accounting for 96 percent of the plan.

Earlier, the ministry reported that this year the record harvest of sugar beet over the past ten years would be collected in Bashkiria. According to Agriculture Minister Nikolay Kovalenko new technology of this crop cultivation, new hybrid varieties and rainfall during the second half of the summer greatly contributed to this situation.

It is expected that the sugar mills in the region will run in a high work load until March, as each of them will have to process about 600,000 tons of sweet root vegetables.

220-230 thousand tons of sugar will be enough for republican needs in this product, the agricultural department assures.
