Orders of the President of Russia to prevent ethnic conflicts are started to be implemented in Volga Federal District
On behalf of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich, the first meeting of the working group on migration issues regulation and voluntary resettlement of compatriots living abroad took place. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Plenipotentiary, the Head of the working group Leonid Gilchenko.
The district working group is set up in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the sphere of inter-ethnic relations and should prepare proposals for the existing immigration policy adjustment. The group included the heads of territorial divisions of the federal executive authorities, prosecutors, representatives of law enforcement bodies and regional governments.
At the first meeting the main problems in the area of migration having nationwide nature were highlighted. The most important issues were identified: inadequate level of legal and regulatory framework, shortcomings of foreigners control system in the country, lack of protection of Russian citizens from unfair competition from migrant workers in the labour market, penetration of criminal elements across the border of the state, increase in ethnic tensions in the society.
