Field works and front end engineering design of VCM-2 trunk railway will be started in 2014

Field works and front end engineering design on the site of VCM-2 trunk railway «Moscow — Kazan — Yekaterinburg» will begin in 2014. The chief of department of internal water and air transportation of the State Committee on Transport and Road Facilities RB Oleg Gilev said about it at the press conference in Ufa on Wednesday.

The VCM-2 Project is developed by JSC "Lengiprotrans", the general contractor – JSC «Skorostnye Linii». The project of lateral branch which will connect a station of the trunk railway Chernushki to Ufa, is now in the stage of active development.

It should be marked that a double-track railroad using joint-free technology will be constructed for the trunk railway. Also sound-proof screens are provided under the project. According to sanitary norms apartment houses can be located at a distance of 50 metres from a railroad. That is why the houses which are located closer to it will be demolished.

The largest railway construction since BAM times is financed from the National Wealth Fund. The high-speed trunk railway will reach Kazan in 2018, full completion of high-speed trunk railway is planned by 2030.
