Ufa has occupied the ninth place in the ecological rating of Russian large cities for 2012 made by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation. As it is marked on the website of the Ministry Natural Resources and Environment, the rating and its estimation technique meet world standards and criteria of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OEDC).
The top five in the general rating of the city environment quality for 2012 included Kursk, Moscow, Kaluga, Saransk, Izhevsk.
The rating was conducted on 85 Russian cities representing separate subjects of the country. It estimates cities on seven indicators: air environment, water consumption and quality of water, waste disposal, usage of territories, transport, energy consumption and control of environmental impact.
