Bulgaria and Bashkortostan discuss prospects of health tourism joint development

The delegation of Bulgaria expressed its intention to establish cooperation with Bashkortostan in the field of health tourism and balneology at the meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Bashkortostan on Tuesday.

The mayor of Velingrad city Ivan Lebanov, representatives of the International Association of Balneology and Tourism "Sirona", Friendship Association "Bashkortostan-Bulgaria" and others participated in the meeting. On the part of Bashkortostan there was the head of Agency on Tourism RB Artem Kolesnikov, the head of department on investments and foreign economic relations of the Ministry of Economic Development RB Artem Kireev, the Ministry press-service informs.

“Our task is to develop a project on joint medical tourism,” the chairman of board of directors of "Sirona" Association Stoyan Khristov defined the purpose of future teamwork.

According to Stoyan Khristov, medical tourism is one of the most quickly developing directions today. In his opinion absence of a language barrier will promote joint development of external tourism.

Artem Kireev marked that Bulgaria and Bashkortostan had a considerable potential for development of mutual relations, and sanatorium-resort branch was one of perspective directions. Special interest within the limits of health tourism can be represented by koumiss treatment.

Velingrad is the largest balneal resort not only in Bulgaria, but also in the Balkan Peninsula. In its territory there are available more than 80 mineral springs, 46 balneal complexes and sanatoria.
