Rustem Khamitov and Jean de Gliniasty have discussed cooperation prospects between Bashkortostan and France
Prospects of cooperation between Bashkortostan and France in economic and social spheres were discussed at the meeting of President RB Rustem Khamitov and the Plenipotentiary Ambassador of France in Russia Jean de Gliniasty. The diplomat has arrived in Ufa as the head of business community delegation.
According to Rustem Khamitov, the foreign trade turnover between Bashkortostan and France following the results of 2012 made 150 million dollars. From them 100 million dollars are accounted for export, about 50 million — for import. The republic delivers to France, mainly, mineral oil, and buys machinery and equipment. In the long term the head of Bashkortostan expects changes in the structure of export due to innovative products.
Development of investment cooperation between two republics, according to Rustem Khamitov, was promoted by the legislation modernization focused on investment climate improvement.
The President of Bashkortostan named «creation of joint venture Alstom and "RusHydro" as the project No.1.
“Recently, we with M-r Salvatore Rotondo (the «Alstom Hydro» vice-president on Russia and the CIS) have signed the protocol according to which in April Alstom company starts works at the construction site and in December finishes basically the enterprise construction so that to start output in 2014.”
Construction by the French "Saint-Gobain" concern of the factory on gypsum cardboard manufacture in Karmaskalinsky region was named among other large projects. According to the President, the partnership of JSC UMPO with Turbomeca company on organisation of helicopter engines components manufacturing has good prospects.
The Ambassador of France in Russia Jean de Gliniasty marked that now in Russia there are four-five "centres" where French companies were going to develop their business, and expressed his confidence that «Ufa will become in the near future such new centre of attraction».
Representatives of the French business shared their plans on development of projects in the territory of Bashkortostan. In particular, the general director of the Russian-French centre on power efficiency Maria Lastovskaya said about the global project on attraction of French companies to participate in regional programs on energy efficiency.
Rustem Khamitov expressed great interest in the project and said that specific proposals from the republic’s part would be presented in the near future.
French companies offered their services in the tram park modernisation in Ufa, in construction of funiculars at mounting skiing resorts and in Ufa — as an alternative passenger transport. Intentions to open in Ufa two more trading malls «Leroy Merlin» were named, to construct a shop of sports goods manufactured in France and a number of others.
Discussion of business projects will proceed at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bashkortostan.
