The inhabitant of Bashkiria put Russia on the eBay Internet auction at 1 cent (31 kopecks). More than 26 people expressed their wish to purchase the country, the bid increased to 97,1 thousand dollars (hardly more 3 million rbl.). Now the announcement is already removed by the website administration, RBC daily informs.
According to the lot description, «the country has been used for one thousand years and is in a normal state», Forbes writes. The description included also the information about the area and population of the Russian Federation. Besides it was specified that the lot delivery could be complicated. As the location of the seller the city of Belebey in Bashkortostan was indicated. The inhabitant of Bashkiria refused to exchange the lot for something else or to accept it back if necessary.
It was not the first attempt to sell a country at the Internet auction. In 2007 at eBay it was offered to purchase Belgium and separately — the Belgian Prime Minister Yves Leterme who retired in 2011. Also in different years Iceland and Greece were put on auction. In all cases the auctions were cancelled.
