The plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in Volga Federal District Michael Babich and the President of Bashkortostan Rustem Khamitov visited the Bashkir Republican Children's Home No.1 in Ufa.

The director of the Children's Home Fanisa Badretdinova said about the history of creation of the Children's Home and its current situation.

“The Children's Home has been functioning since 1921,” the director informed. “Now there are 124 children here at the age from three till 18 years, basically social orphans. Since 2006 foster service successfully works at the Children's Home, since 2009 — post-foster service. The children, who were brought up by foster families and finished their studies are accompanied by our social teachers and psychologists. The work directed on social adaptation of pupils is organised at the Children's Home. Thanks to participation of children in the program «Gifted children» 70 percent of our pupils enter higher educational institutions.”

Different clubs and project groups actively function in the Children's Home. The folklore club, technical modeling group, computer class were shown to the visitors.

Children of school age study on ten computers in the computer class. Rustem Khamitov asked whether children had their personal computers. The director informed that were available some, but, as a rule, they were gifts of relatives. Therefore there are no problems with teaching children computer science.

Michael Babich asked about the process of adoption. He was informed that this process was quite difficult. Besides this concerns mainly children of younger age, instead of those who are brought up in the Children's Home. The plenipotentiary expressed his opinion that the problem of low adoption rates was connected basically not with the children’s age, but with the legislation. And the authorities should work over it first of all.
