Tolerant attitude to foreign citizens in Bashkortostan – the head of Bashkir FMS

author: Dmitry Slezin

“Our organisation is not engaged in revealing of offences among the population, including foreign citizens, that is the task of law enforcement bodies. Our service is only civil. Our main task is rendering the state services to the population,” the head of Directorate of Federal Migration Service (FMS) on Bashkortostan Republic Boris Guzairov said during online conference with readers of i-gazeta. The question concerned the criminal statistics among migrants and tolerance to such citizens.

“But, nevertheless, of course, I know statistics,” Boris Guzairov marked. “The quantity of the crimes committed by foreign citizens in the territory of Bashkortostan Republic is not great — less the tenth percent. Last year 286 crimes were committed. Concerning tolerance it is a question, of course, more sociological. By results of studies, 75 percent of the republican population have tolerant attitude towards foreign citizens and about the same quantity of foreigners are tolerant to natives. Perhaps, it is because our republic is Muslim, and the majority of visitors are from Central Asia. Presence of mosques, common language, traditions all this attracts them here. We practically do not observe ethnic brawls,” head of the Directorate of FMS on RB summed up.
