State Duma deputy, Vice-President of Russian Paralympic committee Rimma Batalova has paid a visit to Italy within the frames of the cooperation program “Sport is Ambassador of Peace”. She has inspected several sports and social institutions and the level of accessibility of these objects for low-mobile groups of population. She has also met with Russian compatriots, living in Italy, and visited the newest Paralympic center.

After inspection of the Paralympic center Rimma Batalova has mentioned that Russia also pays close attention to accessibility of sports objects for disabled people and cited the recent decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to complete construction of Paralympic center in Ufa by 2014 as an example.

“Construction of the center will turn Ufa to a model city from the point of view of making the environment free of barriers” – she said – “High standards of accessibility, created in Republic of Bashkortostan, will be demanded by other Russian regions. Thereby our efforts on promotion of Paralympic values and traditions will help to remove the barriers in respect of people with restricted health abilities”.
