In Moscow the presentation of the Federal targeted program «Culture of Russia» for 2012-2018 took place.
The Federal targeted program «Culture of Russia» is focused on support of book publishing and translations into foreign languages of works created in the languages of the peoples of Russia.
Representatives of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Media, organisations-partners, heads of some Russian publishing houses took part in the event. The feature of the new program is that in its frameworks funds are allocated not only for book publishing support, but also for literary translations.
As the deputy head of periodicals, book publishing and polygraphy department Gennady Kudy said, this year 1805 applications fr om 432 publishing houses were submitted for participation in the federal program. As a result of applications consideration 773 contracts for the sum of 150 million roubles were concluded. The preference was given to scientific and technical, reference-encyclopaedic literature, editions on culture and art.
It should be marked that Bashkortostan is one of few regions wh ere specific steps are made on support of translational activity. Recently the II International competition of Turk Poetry Translations «Ak Torna» («the White crane») was held. The literary and art magazine «Belskye prostory» at support of the Union of Writers RB holds the competition of poetic translations for the fifth year successively. Translators from other regions participate in it too.
