Paralympic Champion Oksana Savchenko was given the Elena Mukhina’s award

Eightfold Paralympic champion in swimming Oksana Savchenko who won in London five gold awards and broke thereby the record of Beijing (three gold) was given the national Elena Mukhina’s award. The sportswoman fr om Bashkortostan was marked in the nomination "By Personal Example".

The awarding ceremony took place in the hall of church cathedrals of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow wh ere champions and prize-winners of Paralympic Games-2012 in London were invited.

Oksana’s coach, the senior coach of the Russian national swimming team on sports of people with impaired vision, the deserved coach of the Russian Federation, the director of the Ufa Sports School No.18, the head of sports chair at the Bashkir State Pedagogical University Igor Tveryakov received the award in the nomination «Bearing Point». Under his supervision the national team won nine gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals at Paralympic Games -2012.

It should be reminded that at Paralympic Games in London the Russian national team achieved the highest results, having won the record for itself in the history of summer Games 102 medals, from which 36 gold, 38 silver and 28 bronze ones.

The Russian sportsmen were congratulated by representatives of Administration of the President RF, the Government RF, the Federation Council RF, Olympic and Paralympic champions of the last years, the ambassador of the Great Britain in Russia, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation.
