Khakimov’s readings “Russia and Arab world: history and up-to-dateness”, devoted to prominent Soviet diplomat Karim Khakimov, well-known in the East as “Red Pasha”, will be held in Ufa Congress-Hall on November 29. This scientific forum is organized by Ministry of education RB, Bashkir Academy of public service and management under the President RB and by the Institute of ethnological investigations by R.G. Kuzeev under the Ufa Scientific Center. Scientists, students and post-graduates from 11 Russian regions, CIS and foreign states will take part in the readings.

Historical experience and the present state of Russian-Arab relations, peculiarities of external political course of Arab states at different stages of history and specifics of modern political situation in the light of the “Arab spring” will be under discussion. Leading Oriental scientists from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg and Ufa, Russian leading institutes and scientific institutions will speak at the plenary session. The documentary by Radik Kudoyarov “Karim Khakimov – the Arabian Vizier of Kremlin” will be demonstrated too.

The readings’ program consists of three round-table discussions: “The Arab East in public thinking and culture of Russia: history and up-to-dateness”, “The Arab world in Russian foreign policy and international relations” and “Karim Khakimov as personality, public activist and Soviet diplomat”. The youth forum “Countries of the Arab East in the eyes of Russian youth” with participation of beginning researchers and students from Russian regions will take place within the frames of the forum too.

We’d like to remind that the international scientific-practical conference “Russia and Islamic world: history and prospects of civilized interaction”, devoted to the 120th anniversary of Karim Khakimov, with participation of representatives of more than 30 countries, has taken place in Ufa in March 2011.
