Amateur and professional drivers celebrate their holiday on the last Sunday of October. The Day of motor-car transport workers was instituted still in Soviet times. For the first time it was celebrated in 1980. It is still celebrated in Russia, Ukraine and Byelorussia.
The head of the state committee RB for transport and road economy Ilyas Munirov congratulated all representatives of the transport branch: “For the first time we are honoring workers of urban passenger transport this year” – said in the complimentary address, located on the site of the committee – “Motor-car and public transport plays an important role for our Republic as well as for the whole country. Either stable functioning of national economics or everyday life of all of us is impossible without this branch”.
The transport sector is considered “the key strategic branch for national economics and in many respects determines stable functioning of territorial objects and vital activity of Republican towns and villages”, said in the message of welcome.
